This short film accompanies Tara Books' new cloth book - The Cloth of the Mother Goddess. Hand block-printed on textile panels, the book recreates a ritual textile art form known as Mata-Ni-Pachedi. The film takes the viewer from the process of making these images to the stories behind them, through the words and work of artist Jagdish Chitara. Many ancient cultures worshipped female deities who match the modern conception of a "mother goddess". The word 'Gaia' originates from ancient Greece, in which it was considered the primary Greek Goddess personifying the Earth.
